Wine Tasting

26 February 2005

Many of my friends, even close friends don't know my interest in wine-tasting. My Dad's an expert and by chance I got his genes and pick up this skills. My wish? To have a wine vineyard in Chianti where the pioneer of wine starts even before the Year 1000. It is till the 18th Century when then famous Chianti Classico is produced. The Chianti Classico is a mixture of black and white grapes that give the wine an exotic taste and fragrance. To differentiate Chianti wine from the others, the earlier will have more body and more intense colour.

In this entry, I'll share on how to taste wine and holding the glass. There's basically 4 general steps in tasting wine, which I think many will know how to.
Step 1: Swirl the wine. The speed of the wine falling back determines the body of the wine.

Step 2: Look at the colour of the wine. Different climates and regions will give a different colour. In cooler climate, you'll expect to see a lighter colour, whereas in warmer climate you'll see darker colour.

Step 3: Smell with your nose by placing glass under nose. Inhale slowly and make sure the smell stays.

Step 4: SIP the wine. Taste it with the tongue and slowly let the volume occupy the mouth.

There's 3 types of wine: Dry, Medium-dry and Sweet.

The RIGHT way of holding a wine glass is to be held by the stem rather than the bowl of the glass since the heat of the hand will quickly warm the liquid. That is because the temperature at which wine is served can have a profound impact on the tastes and the enjoyment it yields.

Just hold the glass by the stem unless the wine is served at too cool a temperature and you need to warm it for a minute or two.

Driving's a breeze!

25 February 2005

Hey! Looks like my driving lessons are gonna be over soon (hopefully). Have completed 20 subjects since Day 1. Really looking forward to take my test. There's a lot of key points in driving. 3 very very important points that I think every driver be it learning or experience should take note of are:

(1)Be Precise
If a turning point is missed, the course will never be smooth;

(2)Be Confident
Not enough confidence built up will cause confussion to road users and causes the car to sway;

(3)Do Not Hesistate
Once you feel that you should move, just carry on. If there's hesistation, NEVER move off.

Have learnt U-turns today and did all the 10 test routes' U-turns. Not as difficult as I think. Able to complete the subject on my myself. Easy! Also get a feel of S-course road. Didn't mount kerb. Good!

Dating...

22 February 2005

I'm bored tonight, so I'll share something here with my readers. Am 21 this year, considered as a legal, lawfully adult, so there's nothing beyond the borders that I can't talk about. Let's talk about DATING.

You met someone. You think he interest you and he thinks you're the one for him. Both of you decided to bring this friendship to another level. So both of you dated each other. Talk about interests. pastimes, share your childhood, what fears most and your "past experience" (am not talking bout sex relations with your Exs here but bout Exs) to make sure he/she won't make you repeat the mistakes again. And the both of you felt that it's time to "announce" as an official pair, you started bringing the significantly other half to outings with each other's friends. Both of you cling each other as to have a "shield" against outsiders, as if saying "He's mine" or "She's my girlfriend".

Slowly, after several weeks, your friends thinks that he/she is the right one for you. You bring the better half to visit your parents. For shy guys, they will borrow an excuse to bring her home. Excuses like "I forgot to bring my keys so had to go back to take", then he will waved to to his mum in an embarassed manner and say "this is so-and-so". At that instance, the family will know they will have another family member-to-be. For those daring guys or those who brought their girlfriends home so many times shouldn't have problem showing the "current Her" to the family. It'll be a simple "My girlfriend" with finger pointing to her and drag her into his room.

Happy 3rd Anniversary!!!

16 February 2005

Finally!! Our Anniversary is here again! This is the 3rd year... Time really flies. Remember I said celebrating 2 occasions in a day? Yup! That's Anniversary and Valentine's. Gerald said to give me a surprise this year. Something special.

First surpirse of the day: I was standing infront of the mirror and suddenly I saw a hand! I glance down... and there's a bouquet of sunflowers!!!!!!! He knew my favourite flower isn't rose, it's sunflower. I literally stood frozen for a few seconds, then I break a huge smile on my face. In an instance, I knew this man standing infront of me is my Prince Charming.

Next surprise: We got off at City Hall station and was told to "blindfold" myself. So I held his hand and close my eyes. The way to the secret place is so scary. A lot of escalators and inclined floors. I had to hug his body in order to balance myself and not to trip over. We stopped at a place and was told to sit down. Then, I open my eyes. Ahh! It's the Max Brenner's Chocolate Bar at Esplanade! I have always wanted to eat there. Chocolate is my favourite food! We had Warm Chocolate Fondue, House Waffle and White Chocolate Strawberry Float.

This will be the most "exciting" Anniversary.

Bennie...

15 February 2005

Bennie... This person intersected my life few years ago. Received a sms from him this evening. We had sort of "lost contact" except for some exchanges of good night messages. "Helo wat u doin now" showed on the LCD screen. "Oops... Only to see ur sms now... Guess ur asleep already" was my reply. No reply from him yet.

We met during our poly days and many mistook us as an item. We were close, in fact very close. He fell for me but came too late, neither did I reject. No, that doesn't mean I cheated on Gerald. We just stay in "good terms". He's always there when I needed someone. He would appear in a snap of the fingers! He's like the voice from heaven. When I ran into trouble in school, he would always be the first insight. I was astonished how news could travel to his ears even though we were in different classes! Though he had a close girlfriend now (I felt "sour" when I knew it), he still treats me good like the old days. How I missed those exam periods! He would never, never let go his hands.

No reply yet.

Thanks Bennie, you're always be a part of me.

Still no reply.

Precious memory

St. Valentine's Day

14 February 2005

Wishing all couples everlasting happiness and singles of Singleton Club find true love.

I did have a date today but not with him, it's my Honda Civic. Not necessary to celebrate today as it can be Valentine's Day everyday. Isn't it better when you could celebrate 2 occassions together?

Happy Lunar New Year!!!!!!!

11th February 2005

Hey hey peepz! Wish everyone had a happy lunar new year, wishes coming true and stay healthy! All the visiting and eating sessions, make sure you're eating the right amount! Hot and dry weather these days, chase the heatiness away by drinking lotsa liquids but not sweetened ones if not as the 15 days of new year you'll put on a kilo per day!

This new year is full of embarrassment and of course nice comments! Thanks to Gerald's Aunty Jane and Aunty Leslie my first two days of new year is filled with extreme embarrassment. One forced me to take their car and send me home, another talked about tying the knot with Gerald! Ahh! Isn't that bad enough? Well, being a super self-conscious human being, I've always carried myself with extreme careful-ness. Be it my new hairstyle, my clothes, shoes, make-up, accessories or nail color, I make sure they match! These efforts earned me tonnes of praises even from duno-who relatives. There's this group of Gerald's aunties (he has many of them) who couldn't stop complimenting my look (esp my eyes)! They would stare and whisper from ear to ear (am I an Alien?!). Never mind, who would mind about being a beauty?

In return of these visits, my legs are tired and feet are swollen. But no worries! I've got secret remedy!

Oh! Don't be lazy about collecting red packets!

Happy Reunion!

8th February 2005

Gerald and I had our "reunion dinner" last night without knowing. Don't get it? Okie, we went to Crystal Jade for dinner, the dishes we ordered seemed so much like those dishes we had during reunion dinner! Somemore there's Glutinous Rice Balls!

It's Lunar New Year tomorrow. Wonder how come the Chinese take so much effort in celebrating the festival. Compared to the New Year, people just celebrate it "like that". And Chinese has 15 days of new year! Am thinking what to wear tomorrow. Too much new clothes, shoes, bags and accessories... Sucha headache! Hmm should get a bigger wardrobe after the new year.

New Year Revolution? Try to contol my shopping temptation.

What unlucky day!

6th February 2005

Does the Feng Shui Master says that today 6th Feb 2005 is a bad day to have a haircut?

Okie, Firstly I helped Yigui to dye his hair black cuz he had some greying strands on his head.
The story: Yigui called to said that he's coming over to our place to have his hair dyed as there's Gerald, Nelson and me. As usual, Gerald was stuck to his Xbox position luckily still got Nelson, but, he could only stand there and see. So, I'm on my own. No one tell me there are gloves inside the box! As the colouring process goes, my fingers got stained by the dye. Thought the stain would go away after helping him to wash his hair, but... no use! I think I should demand 50 bucks from Yigui to do my Manicure.

Secondly, on our way to Dhoby Ghaut guess who we saw.... Jenice Tan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We almost pick up our legs and run but she saw us -__-. Haha but I guess she must be very very absolutely disappointed. Becuz, her eyes open until big big and follow us to the place we sat down but she was ignored by us. Ehh, she even got down at the same station. So? She must be thinking "Gerald or Yigui will sure come talk to me", hahaha but she failed! Bleahe! Out you go! I guess Yigui also got bad impression of her cuz his bitchy-horny ex-gal looks exactly like her! Serve her right! Yup, I know.. I'm bad... Very bad... But I enjoyed it! *Grinz*

Hmm, the stain seemed to have reduced~

Is it my lucky week?

6th February 2005

Hey peepz! Okie, I've changed something again. Yes, it's my blog address. It's now http://glamglamwham.blogspot.com. Take note yeah?

Ahh~ Went shopping just now again. I guess I gotta change to a bigger closet. Can't resist the sight of merchandise. So just buy a little more. Another skirt and 1 more pair of shoes! Hurrah! Am happy. Oh yes, 2 more pairs of earrings added to my huge collection.

Noticed some works had been going on for weeks in the empty shop downstairs. Is it grocery shop? Is it some makan place? Is it apparel shop? I was guessing. Hah! To my surprise, it's actually a BIKE SHOP!!!!!!! Three cheers!!!!!!!! Hurrah!!!!!!!!!!! Biking is my interest. But there isn't any "decent" bike shops around my place, am soooooooooo glad! Finally rides could be organised at My Place! Haha! Gotta develope a good rapport with shop owner first (half-way there) so my next Scott can be discounted.

Another thing is... my credit cards are finally coming!!! I hope the banks will process my applications fast; and my Dad's account is *loaded*. -_*

Yeah~

5th February 2005

Hurrah!!! Comp is finally back to life. After 1 day and 2 nights of "shit!", "fuck the stupid box!" and "oh my god!", my daily life had returned to normal. But for one thing, everything is GONE! Arrgh!! Re-installed scanner, printer, mouse, programs and oh~ my IrDA driver! Where is it? I've must have misplaced the CD. Hah! But this give me a good reason to buy a Bluetooth port. At least, I don't feel bad after buying, because there's a NEED to buy! Luckily I did a partition drive. Not all are gone. Thank God! Yeah, plus two heavy eyebags underneath my eyes.

Went to Innovex @ SP to "support" Orange Man and friends. Oops! I know you're reading this now. Okie, sorry. Not Orange Man but Anthony. (ps: he reads my blog so gotta be careful with the words I used). Hey Orang.. ermm.. Anthony thanks for ya dessert treat! Felt kinda strange when I stepped in SP yesterday. You know, I graduate few months back and haven't been landing my foot there since. Weird tingle feel. Feels nice to see ex-classmates and technicians. I suddenly miss my school life... Oh, Anthony if you see this, could let KC know that I'm no longer a LITTLE girl though I'm one to him. Haha!

*i miss you*

5th February 2005

This "You" has a special place in my heart, very special to me. Sometimes when I'm feeling low, how I wish he could just "tling!" infront of me and give me a hug and say "everything's fine now", or I could fly to his side immediately even though it's just a glimpse. I don't mind. I've regretted all the things I've done to him before and till now the "sour" feeling still runs up occasionally. The day when I realised that I could never go back to what it is then, I called myself a Sinner. I've broke his heart and leave him with a scar. I just wanna say "i miss you".

Changes made...

2nd February 2005

I've changed the "Blogs of other strangers" to "Links". As blog is a kinda personal lifestyle thingy, so I put up the webbies that intersected my daily life and some useful sites.

The staying-alive.com is a campaign held by several international organisations like USAIDS UNAIDS and MTV. It is here to spread the word of having safe sex and drug abuse. HIV+ does not mean to discriminate. It's understanding.
Protect yourself, Protect Others.

Hmm... Ermmm... Hummph...

2nd February 2005

Arrgh~ This stupid electrical white box is giving me problems again! Somethng bad seems to had invaded into it and the best part is; it couldn't be removed. Well well... sad huh? But as long as it doesn't affect my virtual shopping life, it's fine with me!

Yesterday,we went shopping for our new clothes. Hey.. what a surprise! Gerald bought me a bag! Saw it few days ago but was a bit steep on the price so decided not to get it. But who knows, he just dash straight into the shop and get me this .

The havoc shopping week

1st February 2005

Planned to sleep till the noon, but can't ignore the "sirens" from my phone. It's my significantly other half calling! Ahh~~ Oh! It's been a week since I last blog-ed! The past week, haha, I think It's my favourite period in a year ---- Chinese new year shopping!!!!! Hurrah!! By last Saturday I updated my shoes' closet from 11 to 14 pairs! My fashion wardrobe by 4 more sets of clothes! Gonna buy more so I can keep away those bought last year. Saw a piece from GG>5 and targetted a pair of wedge from Vivi. You see, for a woman, clothes and shoes are never enough. Who would mind having more figures in the bank account? It's the same logic! Ok, enough of shopping updates, don't want you to get envious of me. Hah!

My driving. It has improved over the last week. No more mounting kerbs. Able to stop and move off from slope. Drive up and down a slope with gradient. And of course, SPEEDING! Keep exceeding the speed limit. Perhaps I'm born to be a racer? Hah! But one serious problem I had ---- fail to check blindspots. Arrgh! Will try again on Thursday.

Things to do this week: Hair-cut... GAAAAHHH!!! Phone rang. It's Gerald. Telling me to meet him at 1 plus. Bag-shopping, Shades-shopping, Clothes-shopping, Manicure Spa and mmm can't think of anything now. Fill in again when I think of anything I missed out.
