Hey hey~ we're just hours away from 2007! How's your 2006 and what will your new year resolution be?

For me, it's a terrible way to end the year. Well... not so much of my personal life but more of my working. Some terrible things happened on friday in the office which affects me so much that I'm gonna bring it thru 2007. I guess everyone knows the answer... yes, my work load. It's getting way too much that I can't cope with it anymore. It's going to explode any time.

Boss was away (in taiwan) since x'mas and only came back on friday. I had a property case to complete on thursday. Before he left, I did ask him twice when he'll be coming back to work.

"When will you be back? I have completion on 28th."
"28th... which day is it?"
"it's a thursday."
"....hmmm yes, I'll be back."
"back in the office to work on thursday?"
"yes.."

On thursday noon, he was still nowhere insight and his cell is dead. We knew it! He's in taiwan and most probably stranded there due to the quake and the phone lines are cut off! The Transfer document wasn't sign and it also meant that I can't have completion! If completion is delayed, interest is chargeable @ 10% of the purchase price per year. I tried all my means to get the case close but no one is able to help even his good friends solicitors! So, I sms him about it.

He came back to work on Friday morning and reprimanded me for delaying the completion. But it isn't my fault at all!!! He's the one who told me he'll be back in the office on thursday! As usual, he brought up so many other cases to pin point the mistakes that are not made by me! It's so bloody unfair!

I would choose to leave if this is to happen again. I'm just a lowly paid legal secretary. I'm not in need of money neither it's necessary for me to work.

Anyway, I have one trial and 2 completions on the 3rd.

Certainly, I don't want to bring unhappiness to celebrate the coming of 2007 and hubby doesn't want it too!

For the first time in FOUR years, we (gerald & i) spent 2006 x'mas together!!!!! Dont' believe?

We had some Japanese meal @ Hougang Mall, afterwhich we went home and head to the airport before the clock hits 25 Dec.

Weeeeeeeeee~! My COACH stuff have arrived from States!!! *over the moon* It's relatively cheaper to buy in States than in the local boutiques here and designs available in States take a longer time to arrive to the boutiques here.

It's 冬至!!! Which means there's dumplings to eat! It's a Chinese traditional to celebrate this occasion as it means the arrival of Winter. We had dinner @ Turf City's Owen Seafood Restaurant where we get to hand-pick the crabs, clams, fish and prawns.

Curse of The Golden Flower - wah...! So many boobies uh!!! The rain finally STOP! Orchard Road is back to it's crowded scene... The difference is really significant! It was a ghost town last night and today it's roads are packed! It took us 25 mins to reach Cineleisure today, 10 mins more compared to yesterday.

Finally got the time to sit down and start blogging. Work is still as busy as usual. Didn't expect my year end to be so hectic, shouldn't it by relaxing and slacking thru to 2007?

We have 1 trial coming up in January, which we think it's gonna be in the Law Journal. Just becuz of water seeping into the neighbours' house and refused to admit whose mistake, it took everyone 3 years to come to a settlement (hopefully). It isn't common for a STB (Strata Titles Board) suit to last so long and it'll be in the papers (most probably - for being the draggy-est suit), it got the whole office excited, especially for me (er hem! I'm the one handling the file)!
"Joey, we gotta go for trial on the 16th and 17th, and you're coming with me to take the notes of trial" "Really??! (grinz) This month?" "No. Next. January" Oh my god!!!!!!!!!! Doesn't it meant that I gotta spend my birthday in a Court?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart dropped~

It's only yesterday that boss told me he remembered the date wrongly (phew!). "It's on the 17th and 18th" But what's the diff?! I have a divorce hearing on the 16th (bloody shity Courts)! And I still gotta prepare for the trial the day before. Which imply that I'm gonna be extremely, super, duper busy on my birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!! *CRY*

AEICs (Affidavit of Evidence In Chief) took us only 2 days to prepare, amendments after amendments... 1 AEIC is almost 100 pages thick, and we've got 2 AEICs, which 4 bundles of each have to be submitted to STB, 1 bundle for inter-party exchange and 5 bundles to be used on the trial... that makes 20 bundles!

We almost turn into Wonderwomen the next day due the binding of the AEICs. Haha! Lolx!

It does make me wonder that common folks are actually much better people and generous compared to the rich. He might not be well to do but it's the thought that counts right?

I have this client which we helped him twice without asking him for a single cent. He's only a packer with a wife and 3 kids to support. Yet he is so grateful to us that he brought us a hamper.

What touched me the most is that his son came to me with a nicely wrapped parcel in his arms, "jie jie for you". I was stunned. Can you believe that this kid is only 9 years old?

Where do you go to when you hasn't had your dinner at 10:30pm and would like to have some cheap food in an air-conditioned place? Other than MacDonald's, there's this 24hr Hongkong Cafe @ Kovan. It's relatively cheap and they offer quite a large variety of food ranging from desserts to shrimp dumplings and fried rice.

This meal only costs 24 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 mins to calling it a day, boss said "this yr's bonus u can take 2 months" to add to the "adrenalin jab" he further compromised by "i'll try to compensate every month". WOW! Are we hearing right or are we hallucinating due to the xtreme amount of work? I had to pinch myself. It hurts! He also added "it's better to draw the bonus in 2 times in case you overspent. But it's up to you." Where to find such an understanding man?

Following the Happy Feet gaga, Jerry sponsored a Popcorn combo that comes with a Happy Feet soft toy! There's 3 characters to choose from, of cuz I chose Mumble. He's sooooo cute (but somehow Elijah Wood's voice cast doesn't match with Mumble's personality)~

Saw 3 - another dumb killing spree movie with a smarter plot compared to Chainsaw Massacre. It's highly advisable not to have a heavy meal before watching :) .

Other than a movie-ing spree we're also on an eating spree! Haha~ First, MOF, short for Ministry of Food. It's a wiser move if you go there with a fuller wallet and a hungry stomach. Let the pix do the talking~ Oops! I forgotten to take the desserts. Next time...

Second, we found another fast food paradise comparable to Carl's Jr - Super Dog! It's a Hot dog heaven~ Yummy yummy... If I'm not wrong, Discovery Travel and Living once had a program that showcase America's best hot dogs and Super Dog was on the list! It's Beef Chilli Cheese Fries however isn't as amazing as Carl's. Super Dog is located at VivoCity's basement, next to Kopitiam foodcourt.

Finally - Koo Kee Dumpling & La Mian Restaurant @ Parkway Parade. Don't always think that traditional brands only prepare their house-famous. Isn't this how business expands? I't s good suggestion when you had enough of Crystal Jade or you feel that you wanna have a cheaper alternative. Prices range from 3 dollars for appetizers to 10++ dollars for noodles/rice. Koo Kee Dumpling & La Mian Restaurant is located @ Parkway Parade's basement next to Cold Storage.
